If I can have a conversation with the Coronavirus aka Covid-19, this is what I'd say:
I hate you. I wish you never existed. You are ruining my life. You are spreading fear and anxiety around the world. It's all your fault that people are getting laid off their jobs, small businesses are closing and the economy is a disaster. The worry of going outside makes me sick. It's like I'm a prisoner of my own home. I miss my family. I miss my friends. I wish I can hug those who are hurt but I cannot because of this new term "social distancing." I wish you would go away and never come back. How dare you take away loved ones from their families. Do you see what you're doing to the world and do you even care?
There, I let it off my chest. I kinda feel better. I suggest you do the same.
Unfortunately, whatever I tell this virus it's just doing to ignore me and do what it came here to do no matter what. I cannot control the virus however, I can control my attitude. The one thing this virus CANNOT take from me is my mindset. The only way this virus wins is if I let it take over my mind and character. Hurt people hurt people. If I'm fearful and in a panic, I'm hurting myself. When I'm hurting myself, I'm hurting my character which then leads to hurting and installing fear into others.
This setback is getting us all ready for the greatest comeback in history. Is God punishing us and making us think of our sorrows? Are we all getting forced to reflect on ourselves and how we behaved in the past?
Is all of this a test? Did we take our freedom, time & health for granted before this? Are we going to come together and fight through this or are we going to let the virus win?
I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. When a door slams shut, another one is getting ready to open. Does clothing really matter? Does how I look really matter? Does what I do for work really matter? Does how much money I make really matter? Does what people think of me really matter? I care for all these things however, what really matters is our health and family. That's the bottom line.
Did you notice since this virus, families are coming closer together and putting their differences to the side. People are now taking vitamins and practicing good hygiene to take care of their health.
Without health there is no wealth. I'm not talking about "money" I'm talking about wealth as in family. Money is something we can always get back and make again. Family, you only have one and cannot get back. Health, don't take it for granted.
"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self" (22:37-39) Let's put religious beliefs to the side and really study this statement. Did you notice how our communities are coming together? How selfless the world is becoming through this? This commandment is shining right through me. You have to realize that each and every one of us play a crucial role in defeating the Coronavirus. In my opinion, you are a hero if you're staying home. Why? You're saving lives of those who can become severely ill from the virus.
“I am only one,
but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still I can do something;
and because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”
- Edward Everett Hale
I realize we cannot do everything however, we can do something. Once you have a room, city, state, country and world doing something we come to realize together we can do anything and everything.
One day, this moment in time will be a history lesson and our nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren will one day ask us about it. What will you share with them? I want future generations to know I was strong, a fighter, selfless and did not give up.
Remember, you are not in this alone. We are all in this together.
Everyday is a new day. Time isn't stopping and each and everyday we are getting closer to a cure for this horrific virus. The world keeps going and so do you!
I encourage you all to stay healthy and take care of yourself. Watch something funny on television. Talk to a friend that will make you smile. Find the good news out there, not the bad. Take advantage of the extra time you have on your hands and find ways to benefit from it. Thank, pray and have faith for those working in the medical field. It will be okay. You're a witness of a lesson that will be shared one day.
Stay safe & stay well!
