Kobe Bryant - Legends Live Forever

“The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they do.”

- Kobe Bryant

I'm sitting in a room full of people, excitement and energy. I'm listening to a speaker who’s pouring their heart out on stage. Suddenly, the speaker is interrupted and the announcement of the death of Kobe Bryant and his 13 year old daughter was announced along with others due to a helicopter crash.

We took a moment of silence.

I’ll be completely honest. I didn’t know who he was but I knew the name. I knew he was someone of significance and someone who inspired millions of people around the world.

Every single post on my social media is about Kobe Bryant. He’s remembered for his strength, victories, as a loving husband and father, a hero, a role model, an inspiration and much more.

Wow, I thought. Life is too short to not chase your dreams. Kobe Bryant isn’t remembered for his basketball skills, he’s remembered by how he made people feel. Inspired.

“Every Generation has a responsibility to teach the next.”

- Kobe Bryant

This weekend, I learned so many valuable lessons. Here's a few:

  • Stop caring about the “they” committee. Who really cares what “they” think.

  • Make decisions despite how I’m feeling.

  • Have a cause that’s greater than myself.

  • Don't put so much value on other people’s opinions.

  • Stop wanting to be liked rather than be respected.

  • Have the “Do It Now” mentality.

  • Every morning we wake up is a blessing.

After learning those lessons I realized the amount of physical and mental work Kobe Bryant put to reach his dreams. He is a true legend.

I encourage you all to live life to the fullest and ask yourself what do you want to be remembered for. When Kobe Bryant passed away, he left a legacy that will live on forever.

"We can always kind of be average and just do what’s normal. I’m not in this to do what’s normal.”

- Kobe Bryant
